AIM COURSE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Undergraduate Programs The following is the background pathway criteria for entry into our AIM undergraduate degree programs for international students:
a. i) Applicants with recent Higher Education (tertiary) study - at least 6 months full time (at Bachelor degree level or higher) from an internationally-accredited institution OR
ii) Applicants with completed secondary education matriculation in the last 2 years (NSW HSC or recognised equivalent) OR
c. Mature age applicants (21+yrs) not meeting the above criteria but with sufficient previous work / life experience deemed relevant by AIM. AND
b. Applicants obtain an English Language Proficiency IELTS accreditation score of 6.0 or higher, or failing that, have enrolled in an accredited English for Academic Purposes pathway program.
Postgraduate Programs The following is the background pathway criteria for entry into our AIM postgraduate degree programs:
a. i)Applicants hold a bachelors degree qualification (or VET qualification) or higher from a recognised tertiary institution OR
ii). Applicants without bachelor level qualifications but possessing extensive industry experience at a professional level, demonstrating potential to undertake study at this level; AND
b. Applicants must obtain an English Language Proficiency IELTS accreditation score of 6.5 or higher, or equivalent.
NOTE THAT IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE ABOVE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA APPLICANTS WILL STILL NEED TO FULFILL THE SPECIFIC COURSE PORTFOLIO SUBMISSION ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AS OUTLINED BELOW.

AIM COURSE ENTRY PROCESS
For international students, entry into all undergraduate and postgraduate courses at AIM require the following procedures to be completed:
- Application Form submitted
- Portfolio submitted and interview/audition (if required) undertaken;
to review work and assess skills & aptitude to study
- Photocopy of passport provided
- English Proficiency - IELTS 6.0 Academic (Bachelor and Diploma) or 6.5 Academic (Postgraduate) or equivalent results submitted
- Supporting identification and background documents provided
- Evidence submitted of prior study: Australian Year 12 or equivalent school results (for Bachelor and Diploma), or Bachelor degree or mature age status with experience (for Postgraduate)

Bachelor and postgraduate courses:
These may include resume, references, financial information + overseas student health cover.
Senior Secondary College:
Two character references and most recent school report.
Intensive English Language Program
We acknowledge that music is a global industry and that some of our potential students may come from countries where English is not their first language. For those students who do not meet the initial English language requirement to gain direct entry into one of our programs, they will be required to improve their English language skills to the required level by enrolling in an intensive English program. AIM can suggest and recommend providers who can help with this.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING AND EXPERIENCE
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is an assessment process that involves assessment of an individual’s relevant prior learning (including formal, informal and non-formal learning) to determine the credit outcomes of an individual application for credit (National Quality Council Training Packages glossary).
RPL at AIM is conducted via written statement in which applicants address specific criteria. It allows candidates to demonstrate how they will use the knowledge, skills, abilities and personal qualities gained through life experience to succeed in studies at the AIM.
RPL is an optional, alternative pathway to tertiary study intended for people without formal educational qualifications.

The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) monitor and regulate the higher education sector’s involvement with overseas students studying in Australia on student visas.
Higher educational providers must meet minimum standards set by TEQSA (The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency) to enable registration under the ESOS (Education Service for Overseas Students) Act. This protects Australia’s reputation for delivering quality education services and the interests of overseas students, by setting minimum standards and providing tuition and financial assurance.
The ESOS Act mandates a nationally consistent approach to registering education providers so that the quality of the tuition and care of students remains high. The professionalism and integrity of the industry is further strengthened by the ESOS Act’s interface with immigration law. This imposes visa-related reporting requirements on both students and providers.
The National Code is a set of nationally consistent standards that govern the protection of overseas students and delivery of courses to students by providers that are registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
Higher educational providers in Australia must be registered to enrol overseas students in specific courses. Registered providers have a CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and courses for Overseas Students) code and a specific CRICOS course code. This registration guarantees the provider and the course meet the high standards necessary for overseas students.
